Bad Gastein

On the south entry of the Gastein valley, which is the longest side valley of the Hohen Tauern, is Badgastein. A town full of tradition in a glamorous coulisse: Belle-epoch-romance at the waterfall, wellness-pleasure in the new spa and a rich choice of culture and entertainment attract people from all over the world. Absolutely unimpressive is the Stubnerkogel. But if you stand at the takeoff, you will recognize the qualities of the mountain. The east place is 160 m wide, ideal pitched, with a superb view to the Graukogel. Through its direction, the east side invites for thermal and xc-flights. The north takeoff is a lawn, easy to start. Due to a new cable car there is no west start.
In the spring time there are strong thermals, so this mountain is only for experienced pilots.

The Fliegerclub Gastein welcomes all flying colleagues. At the flyers meeting point, the restaurant “Bäckerwirtsgut” in Bad Bruck, near to the golf course (landing opportunity after consultation), the flying innkeeper gives you all info´s. Be our guest!

Situated in the south of Badgastein, next to a football ground (=Parking area 120 x 60 m) and should be approached to north. (anabatic wind). If you don’t reach the place, try to land in the marked field and walk out to fold the glider. For landings outside, in the not mown fields, donate € 10 in the restaurant Bäckerwirtsgut.
